I used to go with my father when I was younger. It was a father-son bonding thing more than anything else and I did appreciate cars from an early age. Mostly classics. The only cars I loved seeing at auto shows were the concept cars or old retro classics. And the Italians.
Cars, schmars. I'd rather go to a spatula show.
Spatula City!!!!
I'm sure I'd be tickled by the concept cars, but by and large I avoid participating in "car culture". Would rather take this opportunity to question the automobile theme of Gaper's Block, and whether it has any resonance with its readers' (presumably) bike/walk/train/bus urban lifestyles.
If I were going, it would be to check out the new Scion xB. Too bad we just bought a brand new Element, cause I think I like the xB better.
I love cars and would love to go to the show, but the only car I'm itching to see is the one that I want to buy but shouldn't because I really should save my money and I have a perfectly serviceable car in the meantime. The Acura RSX Type-S, 200hp with a schnickety-schweet six-speed short-throw close-ratio manual transmission. *haaargle*
When I was a kid I loved it and always went. It was about getting good swag, entering contests, playing games, seeing celebrities, and getting in cool cars. I don't think it's quite the same anymore.

My mom just asked if I'd like to go with her and my little brother. Seeing as how I just bought a new car, I'm not too enthused, but it'll probably be a good opportunity to take some interesting pictures.
In the past, it's been interesting but exhausting, just like any other convention.
