Powerhouse indie sensation The National will be playing along with the rising star Local Natives and the soon to be "it" duo Wye Oak today at the Aragon (1106 West Lawrence Avenue). Tickets are sold out but you are sure to be able to score something on Craigslist.

The last 2011 monthly and oh so legendary So You Think You Have Nerves of Steel is
Tuesday, December 6th.

This edition is more musical than most. They will have a house band, Good Evening and as always host Harold Ray will croon for your entertainment. Writer Jac Jemc will read, enjoy some stand-up by Natalie Edwards, a pairing surprise by Mason Johnson & Daniel Shapiro and more.

The series is always at the Hungry Brain 2319 W. Belmont at 8 p.m.

The Second City 24 hour fundraiser: Letters to Santa

For a decade, The Second City has enlisted Chicago's best improvisers and their musical counterparts in offering twenty-four consecutive hours of the best improvised live art you will see in the city. This unique event raises money and gives hope to disenfranchised Chicago families on Christmas Day. This year's improvisation will be spearheaded by TJ Jagadowski, Tim Baltz, and Brendan Jennings. "Rio's Olympic Reality" @ The Chicago Freedom School

The Chicago Freedom School, 719 S. State St., hosts "Rio's Olympic Reality: Expulsion In Democracy: Favelas, Eviction & Gentrification in Rio de Janeiro," a discussion with Dr. Theresa Williamson, founder of RioOnWatch and observer and activist on the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics. $15 donation requested; food and beverages will be provided. Gospel Music @ Empty Bottle (Free)

Adorable lo-fi side project of Black Kids bassist Owen Holmes, Gospel Music plays tonight at 9:30pm at the Empty Bottle. Without RSVP, tickets are $8 and are available at the door. Reyka vodka presents Iceland Wants to Buy You a Drink @ Anthem and The Bedford

Reyka vodka recently won the IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition) vodka trophy, and to celebrate they are buying Chicago a few rounds of drinks. They'll have two hosted bars, a performance by Iceland's Jeff Who? and you can enter to win a trip for two to Iceland.

The first stop is Anthem, 1725 W. Division, from 7-9pm. Then head over to The Bedford for another hosted bar from 10-12 and the live band performance.
