The Rookery

"When they moved into the Rookery at La Salle and Adams, a gorgeous light-filled structure of Root's design, they saw views of the lake and city that no one but construction workers had seen before."
The Devil in the White City

The Rookery, located at 209 S. La Salle St., was designed by Daniel H. Burnham and John W. Root and completed in 1888. Thanks to careful stewardship of the building and a commitment to preservation, the Rookery looks much the same today as it did a century ago.
