You may be remembering the Mechanics thread a couple months ago, sky.

How about Schneider?

I was pretty happy with Handyman Matters and the work they did at my place. Also, they get good ratings on Angie's List.

Eamon / July 4, 2006 10:16 AM

Yep. Bernie Dentzer Plumbing up in Rogers Park. He was just here yesterday, coincidentally.

No. If it's not a major job, I just do it myself. I've used a couple that have been ok, but none that I would recommend. Good luck!

I was lucky enough to have my father-in-law repipe our entire house.
But when we managed some places in Wicker Park, we used HandiCo for everything we couldn't do ourselves and they we good on some things poor on others. So I can't give them a 100% thumbs up, but they are at least worth a call.

Out of all of the Plumbers, I always thought that Frank Sturgis was under-rated. Liddy and Hunt: very over-rated.

The plumber we've used for many many many things and come with our highest recommendation is Welter Plumbing in Morton Grove. They've done great work on our place over the last three years and are on time, know their stuff and generally great to work with.

I've used Handyman Matters, and they're OK. Depends on who the contractor is.

We subscribed to Angie's List recently and it was totally worth the money, esp. for things that you haven't a clue about, like how to find a guy to haul away three tons of dirt.

Normally I'd recommend my husband, but currently he's at work remodling our own house so no outside jobs until he's done!

mike / July 5, 2006 10:26 AM

I don't know about handymen, but Blagg is pretty good with an Axe.

kellyg / July 5, 2006 10:31 AM

My dad is a great plumber!! Been doing it for almost 40 years. he just redid my entire bathroom...email me if you want his number...

spook / July 5, 2006 11:15 AM

Plumbers? How bout E.Howard Hunt, G. Gordon Libby, John Paisley and Howard Osborn. I hear they come highly recommended though they did botch one job a while ago.

Andrew / July 5, 2006 2:45 PM
