Chicago Media Action Forum

The next in the series of Public Education Forums, Chicago Media Action discusses "The Threat of U.S. Intervention in Iran." The event is a panel and discussion about American relations with Iran, the policies of both and the media coverage of the issues. Scheduled panelists include Stephen Kinzer, a New York Times foreign correspondent, Sama Sepehri, a writer with the Internationalist Socialist Review, and host Cliff Kelly, of WVON-1450 AM and V103-FM. The talk begins at 7pm, 77 W. Washington St. in the First United Methodist Church.

Paul Feig @ Barbara's Bookstore

Paul Feig, creator of Freaks and Geeks, stops at Barbara's Bookstore UIC to read from his new memoir, Superstud: Or, How I Became a 24 Year Old Virgin. The book takes the reader through Feig's years in "high school, college and young adulthood, on his neurotic road of sexual development and anguish." The reading begins at 7:30pm, 1218 S. Halsted. Chicago SummerDance

The ninth annual Chicago SummerDance festival of public dancing continues tonight in the Spirit of Music Garden in Grant Park (601 S. Michigan, between Harrison and Balbo). This evening's entertainment: DJs Ron Carroll and JM3, playing Chicago & Gospel House, Old School & Deep House. SummerDance features one hour of dance lessons (except Wednesday nights), followed by two hours of live music and dancing. Tonight's show runs from 6:00 to 9:00, and SummerDance runs at the park Wednesday-Sunday nights (weather permitting) through August 28. See the SummerDance site for a complete schedule.

LMAC @ Rotofugi

Les Minimal Autistic Children will be appearing tonight at Rotofugi, 1953 W. Chicago Ave., from 6pm to 10pm, to celebrate their first year in business. They'll be signing toys and products, previewing unreleased toys and releasing new ones -- and if you bring a light-colored t-shirt, they'll silkscreen it for you! Drinks and music, too. Free.
