Image Union short films @ Music Box

Introduction to Cheese Workshop

Mon Ami Gabi presents an Introduction to Cheese workshop, educating "novice cheese lovers" about the world of French cheeses. The learning comes straight from the experts and is led by Sofia Solomon, president of a respected Chicago cheese importer and distributor. The workshop lasts from 12-2pm and covers everything from the history and principles of cheese making to proper tasting techniques to French wine pairings. Hat Soiree @ Chicago Athletic Association

As part of Falling Head First, Chapeau is hosting a soiree featuring the designs of Milliner’s Guild members and their guests beginning at 6 PM. Try on more than 200 hats and meet the hatmakers. Ozu film fest @ Film Center

The Siskel Film Center presents the return of their program of films by legendary Japanese director Yasujiro Ozu. The retrospective begins this afternoon with the screenings of the films Late Spring and The Lady and the Beard, and continues through the end of the month. Plenty of great films will be shown in the weeks to come, including the 1953 classic Tokyo Story, probably Ozu's most known film. Definitely worth checking out. DIY Trunk Show III

The third annual DIY Trunk Show, a craft fair that features handmade goods of all kinds, happens today at the Pulaski Park fieldhouse (1419 W. Blackhawk) from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Expect to see handmade cards, purses, jewelry, soap, stuffed toys, scarves, clothing, records and CDs... if it can be made, you'll probably find it here. See the trunk show's Website for full details, and a list of vendors that will be there. Also stop by the Gapers Block table to say hello to us, and keep an eye out for plenty of GB staffers and friends that will be selling stuff, working at the various events planned during the day, or helping out behind the scenes.

Poetry Reading and Artist-Poet Dialogue @ ARC Gallery
