MODChicago - Maintaining Our Cool

MODChicago is holding their fifth annual "Our Way of Thinking" MOD Weekender, "Maintaining Our Cool." The Weekender serves as a way to bring fans of 60s music from all over the country to Chicago in celebration of mod culture. The festival starts on Thursday night with a 9pm-2am "Meet and Greet with the Elite" at Delilah's wherein DJs will spin and you'll be treated to a live set from New York's Mod Fun. On Friday night Sonotheque hosts a Mod Soul Dance Party with DJs from both coasts. On Saturday night the Note hosts the main event with the Mod All Nighter, featuring DJs from Germany, Spain, Norway and the US. Book Swap @ Hideout

Books and beer, what more could you want? No, really? From 5:30-8:30pm, the Hideout is hold the Reader's first ever book swap. You can bring and take up to 15 books in decent condition - leave the torn, musty, lined books at home with you technical, legal, medical and encyclopedia type books. No periodicals either. But that leaves a whole wealth of genres open for you to trade with. You might even win some door prizes, too! Free, plus the cost of beer. 1354 W. Wabansia. Neo Solo @ Neo-Futurarium

The Neo-Futurists present Neo Solo, a series of solo performance pieces by ensemble members, alumni, and guest performers. This week's plays: "Bernadine and Dina" by Dina Connolly; and "I'm Fine and I'm Happy" by Megan Stielstra. The final performances for this year's Neo Solo are this weekend, so act now if you want to check it out! Neo Solo runs Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM. Slam poetry @ Holiday Club

Opening: Huddersfield

TUTA presents the American premiere of Huddersfield by young Serbian playwright, Ugljesa Sajtinac. After ten years apart, four schoolmates reuinite in an obscure Serbian town they love to hate.
