Do The Right Thing @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a retrospective of the work of director Spike Lee throughout the month. Tonight the Film Center will screen Lee's Do The Right Thing from 1989. The film will be accompanied by a lecture and discussion from teacher and author Jacqueline Stewart. The film screens tonight at 6:00 PM. Red Line Extension Public Hearing

Come discuss the possibility of extending the Red Line from its existing south terminal at 95th Street to a new terminal at 130th Street. The extension could streamline bus-to-rail connections for 12 CTA bus routes and four Pace routes and could also connect the line with the South Shore commuter rail line and Metra’s proposed Southeast service commuter rail. The meeting will take place tonight from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Chicago State University New Academic Library, 4th Floor Auditorium 9501 S. King Drive. IWOC: Writing for Children Isn't Kids Stuff

If you have an interest in writing children's literature, the Independent Writers of Chicago's April meeting could prove to be helpful to you. "Writing for Children Isn't Kids Stuff" focuses on breaking into the youth market, the opportunities and requirements in writing for children and how to approach publishers. Author Marlene Targ Brill will lead the discussion. Networking starts at 5pm, the program starts at 6pm in the Chicago Athletic Club's 7th Floor Lakeshore Room 12 S.
